The move their ships over to the Caribbean for the Christmas cruise and leave to go back to Europe in mid-March. We lose about 3 months of cruising time! Bummer. My great travel deal - Family Cruise Kids Sail Free

I just finalized a cruise booking for my family this week. Great Deal! For my family of 4, two adults two kids (under 9 years of age) I booked a 10 night Deep Caribbean Cruise on MSC Cruislines for the bargain price of $1800 Canadian, all taxes in. Great Wolf Lodge Niagara - Summer 2008 Review

Well, we did it. We went to Great Wolf for the second time.

The last time we went was 2 years ago and we noticed a few differences.

Here are our thoughts:

We went in July Sun to Tuesday. 2 nights in the hotel, 3 days at the waterpark

Arrival

Arrive as early as you can. Your room may not be ready but you can pick up your wristband, change into your bathing suits in their changeroom and use their free secure lockers.

Room - KidCamp suite with Balcony

The rooms was great, large clean, has fridge, microwave and coffee maker with comp coffee. No cream or milk, bring your own. Noise was not a factor at all. We had a view of the inner parking lot which wasn't great but we were never there anyway.

Evening Story time

8pm every night. If you have small kids this is great fun. Put them in their jammies and slippers and bring them to the lobby. Don't forget your cameras. It lasts about 30 mins.

Waterpark

Great as always and not too crowded at all. Bring your own colourful towels. It will make it easier to save yourself a lounger or chair especially at the outside pool.

Food

Way overpriced and not the best. I would stick to the outside BBQ area for most meals and for breakfast go to the Coffee shop just outside the waterpark for great muffind, croissants etc... Bring as many of your own snacks and drinks as possible. You aren't supposed to bring them into the waterpark or pool area but lots of people were and no one stopped them.

Staff

Friendly, friendly friendly. Amazing group and very kid oriented.

Mini Golf

Great fun, reasonably priced.

Overall

Watch for promos and deals, well worth the money and fun for the whole family.

My 2 cents, this is a great deal, dates aren't the greatest. The meal plan is worth every penny.

I would add 2 extra nights at the hotel to this package (about $80us per night) and spend some time kickin' back by the pool.

Also, I think the deals will only get better, sit tight for some deals in the fall!

This one was advertised in the Toronto Star today.

Book by April 15, 2008 for travel between May 1 and Oct 31, 2008.

It should be called Kid stay free as the deal is only applicable to the first kid age 2 to 12 years sharing with 2 adult.

I hate when they advertise Kids when the deal is only for 1!

Anyway, they list resorts in Turks & Caicos, Jamaica, Costa Rica, St Lucia Mexico Cuba.

I couldn't find anything on their website, which is typical of them. I would contact your travel specialist to get you details or call direct at 1-866-529-2079.

This one was in the Toronto Star this morning.

Mexico's Palace resorts has launched a summer promo, children under 12 eat, play and stay free when sharing a room with an adult.

Offer valid from June 1 to Aug 31, 2008 for Moon Palace, Cancun Palace, Beach Palace, Xpu-Ha Palace, Playacar Palace, Cozumel Palace and the new Isla Mujeres Palace. Limit of 2 children per room.

Travel Tip #2

When booking discount airfare, prices tend to get cheaper as you get closer to the travel dates....so be patient! The only time this doesn't work is peak travel times, Christmas, Spring Break etc....

Go to your favorite airline, cruiseline, resort etc... websites and sign up for their newsletter to get up to date and last minute travel deals.

Bargain Airfare

Have you ever found a great vacation deal and haven't been able to afford the airfare to get there? If you live in the Greater Toronto Area or in any US border town, I highly recommend crossing the border and flying through a US airport. Canadian airports charge airlines ridiculous taxes and fees to land. You can save a bundle is you fly out of a US hub. Example, when I went to Florida last May it was just under $695US to fly out of Buffalo for my family of 4. If we flew out of Toronto it was over $2400 Cdn. With the exchange rate as it is, it was well work the 1.5 hour drive and the $40 parking/week. I highly recommend Southwest and JetBlue, both friendly no frills airlines.

Costa has a number of European cruise sales for this summer and fall. I have yet to see any Kids Sail Free promos from them which is a disappointment. Also, they are not running any ships in the Caribbean until December 2008.

Why start a family travel blog?

This blog has been created because I keep getting asked the same question over and over again... How do you find such amazing Family travel deals? Well, the answer to that is simple, I have great sources for these deals. I'll give you an example of some of the travel deals I have been able to get for my family. We recently went on a 7 day Caribbean cruise and we had a cabin with a huge picture window that took up the entire wall. We were on deck 11 and had an amazing view. We travel with 2 young children and for the 4 of us it cost $1200 Canadian. All in. That included food, entertainment,, kids club, drinks at meals, tea, cofffee and juice throughout the day. The deal was that the kids cruised free. Another recent deal was $299 per adult, kids sail free for a 5 day Caribbean cruise. My plan for this blog is to post the best deals I can find each week, including airfare, cruises, land travel. My focus will be on family travel on a budget.
